for 1863, with 8in. round, sighted barrel signed 'ADDRESS COL. SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA', plain stepped cylinder roll engraved with a naval scene, open iron frame marked 'COLT'S PATENT', cut-outs on recoil shield and heel for shoulder-stock, brass trigger guard stamped '.44 CAL', iron backstrap, smooth walnut grip with martial cartouche and inspector letter stamps to all major parts (mostly 'D' and 'H'), slight traces of original finish
